The thing that gets me is that Danaerys knew that she would never have the people’s love like Jon does and she is just angry about it like she is entitled to it. Newsflash! You aren’t entitled to anything. You aren’t entitled to the Iron Throne as your claim as a princes sister is weak to that of the crowned prince’s son, you aren’t entitled to the North and Sansa continuously called you out on that and still housed you and your army, you aren’t entitled to the people’s love because you haven’t done anything to earn it! First you burned all the food in the Reach, then the prisoners, then all of Kings Landing after a surrender that could have saved so, so many lives because you wanted the revenge you thought you were ‘entitled’ to. And you said the people will never love you and only fear you. Like why is that surprising?? It’s almost as though Danaerys is the symbol of tyranny she claimed to want to destroy. Danaerys just wants to allow freedom and be the breaker of chains if it means people will freely worship her and take up arms for her. But if not she will burn you to the ground. Fire and Blood has always been the threat of the Targaryens and there is a reason that their dynasty collapsed.
Agree with some of this but the reason her claim is weak in the GoT universe is because she’s a woman - she’s the direct daughter of the last king, Jon is his grandson. People in Westeros only say his claim is stronger because he’s the oldest male descendent, but Dany is more closely related to him. That said, guess she’s just crazy now so oh well 😕
I’m hardly an expert but I’m pretty sure that’s not how the line of succession works. Sure, it’s patriarchal but even if Daenerys were the last son of Aerys, Jon would still have a greater claim to the throne. Rhaegar was the heir to the throne, and therefore his eldest, living son should be next after Rhaegar (R.I.P. Elia, Aegon, and Rhaenys).
That’s how it works in real life, you need only look to the British royals. If Charles were King, William would be his heir, followed by George. Which would mean that George has a greater claim in the line of succession than his uncle (Harry). So, I don’t think it’s necessarily gender related. I mean, if Jon had been a girl, she’d have had a greater claim than Daenerys anyway.
